It’s been a fairly long time since I posted on this site.  I have a bunch of posts that I need to upload at some point in the future, but until then I have an announcement.  I started another site that is dedicated to another one of my hobbies.  You can find my new site at Bear Coral.   For over 10 years Jolene and I have traveled.  Throughout our various locations of travel, we have scuba dived around 50 times.  Each time we dove, I felt the urge to bring the underwater world to my home.  So, for a while now I have been dabbling in the saltwater aquarium hobby.

What is Bear Coral

This past year I invested a lot of time and money into multiple aquariums, fish, and coral.  We have had a lot of ups and downs.  At many points I’ve thought about scrapping it all together and calling it quits.  However, we have made a lot of friends along the way and learned who’s advice to trust and who not to.  After seeing the ins and outs of the hobby, I also came to the realization that the reefing hobby does a irrepairable damage to our world wide reefs.  Since I didn’t want to contribute to that damage, I then began investing in aquacultured coral.  For those who don’t know what that means, it essentially means that the coral is grown in a farm, rather than being stripped from our oceans.  Thus making the hobby self sustaining and does less harm to our diminishing reefs.

Zoanthid Coral

Currently now in my collection I currently have over 50 different variety of coral of which I am aquaculturing in a separate aquarium.  In time they will be available for resale.  Ever since college I’ve looked for different ways to diversify my incoming revenue sources.  Through my multiple sites, and sites I’ve designed for others, I have created various avenues of revenue.  Hopefully this one will add to those revenue sources in more way than one.  Additionally, I can feel satisfied that I am helping our world reefs by providing other sources of obtaining coral.  Yes there are others who do the same thing, but it is my hope to do it for better reasons.

Since I generally use my last name for everything I do, I had to add Bear to the name.  Here is my logo, which is a work in progress.  I hope it makes sense.  Let me know in the comments if it doesn’t.
