Bored Waiting for Mayweather vs. McGregor

I’m not the typical boxing fan.  Once in a while I’ll watch a special event.  While waiting for Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor, watching the Raiders vs. Dallas, falling asleep, Jolene and Johanna were doing their nails.  This is what happens when you are bored and the only guy in the house.

Mayweather vs. McGregor

A stay at home dad shared the match on Facebook for everyone to watch.  Otherwise I would have just waited to hear the results.

Great American Solar Eclipse

Aug 21, 2017

When I was in elementary school I remember our teachers pulling the welding helmets out and creating pin hole boxes for us to watch a solar eclipse. It’s one of those events in child’s life that you don’t forget. When driving home it bugged me that I couldn’t look at the sun, even though the event was over. In reality we are not suppose to look at the sun anytime.  The solar event today was even more special.

Johanna’s First Day of Kindergarten

Today was the big day.  Johanna’s first day of kindergarten.  She took her Ariel backpack and lunch tote and began her journey as a school girl.  As a father what comes to mind for me?  I’m getting old.

What’s the Small Hole in a Toilet

by , on
Aug 5, 2017

Have you ever wondered what the small hole in a toilet is?  It’s a siphon jet.  Toilets work by gravity.  The extra hole acts as a siphon to increase the flow of water into the toilet.  This action aids in emptying the toilet faster.  Personally I didn’t understand it’s function until recently.  Our toilet kept emptying slowly.  It wasn’t until after we did a deep clean of the toilet until it started to empty normally.

Tag Is Not Permitted in Schools

Tag is not permitted in schools

Johanna begins her first year of school next week. She grew up fast, too fast.  Did I just say too fast?  It seemed like yesterday I was counting seconds.  She begins kindergarten at Sundance Elementary in Beaumont California. Jolene was combing through the rules and regulations of students. Specifically she was looking at the Student Behavioral Expectations pamphlet. One of the rules state that “tag/chase is never permitted.” Running is also not allowed.  Additionally you can never touch another student. Not just in the no-no area, but at all.  Johanna loves to hug.  I’m prepared for the phone calls already. What really bugs me though is that tag is not permitted in schools.

My Wife Is Beautiful

Jolene just passed 32 weeks pregnant.  We finally made time to get another photo of her.  I think my wife is beautiful.

So often we tell girls they are our princesses. Often we forget to tell our boys that they are our prince. So we thought it would be nice to create a photo with our prince’s crown. We hope you like it.

Movie Fort Fail

Yesterday I got the bright idea of creating a movie fort for Johanna and myself.  Jolene was at work, so to pass the time I thought we would watch the movie Moana.  We have a bunch of cardboard laying around from various projects.  I pulled the couch cushions from the other room and a couple blankets.  Voila, a movie fort.

maternity leave

Beginning today Jolene is officially on disability.  Her doctor approved her to be out on maternity leave early.  She is just short of 30 weeks along.  Over the past few weeks she has been having sciatica, massive amounts of pain, dizziness, fainting spells, and falling.  Now she finally gets to take a break before our boy is born.  She has been pushing herself further into her pregnancy with the hopes of staying out longer after our baby’s birth.

One of My Most Dreaded Questions, “Can I Help You”

by , on
Jul 9, 2017

When I was a child I loved asking my dad if I could help him.  I enjoyed participating on construction sites using a hammer or laying tile.  As a child and even into adult hood I helped my dad with many tile jobs.  Through the years I thought I actually was helping.  Over time I did eventually excel at the job.  Now that I’m a dad, I realize I probably was more of a burden in my younger years.  Which is why this is my most dreaded question, “can I help you?”

My Wife Is Hot

Jul 5, 2017

Originally when I planned this post I wanted to take a photo of my wife while she was sweating.  That way I’d have a photo where my wife is hot, literally.  I didn’t get that photo yet.  So the next best thing was to take some photos of her pregnant.
